The abhorrent history...

Nestled betwixt Severn and Wye and a stones throw from the Welsh border

lies the ancient Forest of Dean, the home of Abhorrent Guitars.

The Romans occupied these lands from around 50 A.D but little is known of this area beforehand other than it was on the territorial edge of the Silures, a war-like tribe known historically for fighting the Romans tooth and nail.

NON ATROCITATE, NON CLEMENTIA MUTABATUR

In the words of Tacitus: 'The tribe was changed neither by cruelty nor by clemency'...

So if there's one thing we can take from the Silures, it's that they were metal as fuck.

That attitude is the guiding principle behind Abhorrent;

That which resists, persists.

Not to be diluted by fads or trends.

To be a distillation of the spirit of HEAVY FUCKING METAL.

My name is Alex, I've been building guitars for a decade.

Just like anyone else my life has been a journey. I grew up in a musical household tainted by a fanatical religion.

I Discovered Iron Maiden at 12 then quickly becoming obsessed with thrash, black and death metal. I started playing guitar at 13 and dreamt of being in a metal band but soon realised  that rural Gloucestershire would put an end to that.

While studying art at college I found I had an aptitude for drawing metal logos, before long I was regularly drawing band logos, making flyers for local gigs and coding myspace layouts for the bands i'd become friendly with. I went on to study design at University and briefly pursued that before an impromptu diversion into the world of carpentry during the last financial crash. One day in the winter of 2014 I had the bright idea to combine two of my interests and try building my first electric guitar. A bright green super Strat made from an oak worktop cutout. Needless to say it was an utter piece of shit made with zero knowledge, but it did kindle a flame. Since that day all I've ever really wanted to do Is build metal guitars.

So with a global pandemic looming, Abhorrent was born in the winter of 2019.
